Recycled Amazon Cardboard Figure Drawings by David Reuter
THE EMPTY AMAZON BOX
You weren’t expecting any company today, so you’re a little startled when you hear a loud knock on your front door. You quickly drop everything you’re doing and you open your door just in time to see a delivery truck pulling away from the curb. A smile begins to work its way across your face because sitting right in front of you is a cardboard box. You shout-out a quick “thank you” to that anonymous truck driver as he disappears down the street and you close your eyes and savor that dopamine rush.
That simple dance has created billionaires of a handful of people and is repeated countless times every single day. It’s almost become a daily act of nature like high and low tides, sunrises and sunsets and multivitamins. I’ll be the first one to admit that I love Shopping On-Line because whenever I visit Amazon.com, I become an explorer who revels in the experience of spelunking the caves, caverns and chambers of the online shopping universe.
I’ll search tirelessly for that perfect gift for a friend or family member or for that reward for myself that has somehow eluded me throughout my entire life. Then, I gently place my baubles, bangles and beads into my virtual shopping cart and like a modern day Magellan I navigate my way through the treacherous checkout process, and almost magically, my package arrives right at my feet.
But, what happens to THE EMPTY AMAZON BOX?

Notes
David Reuter is a Guitarist / Arranger / Artist currently living in Nashville Tennessee and a founding partner at Big Tent Nashville. He is the Creative Director at The Dark Matter Laboratory Nashville and Music Director for Kristen Parisi.
Born in Coal Township Pennsylvania, David graduated from the Berklee College of Music Boston with degrees in Jazz Composition and Arranging. Private Studies in Classical Guitar with Spanish Guitarist, Brazilian Guitarist Juan de la Mata, and American Classical Guitarist Sharon Wayne American Composer Ken Pullig and Jazz Pianist Charlie Banacos.
David studied Drawing at The Boston Architectural College at the Danforth Museum & Worcester Art Museum Schools. Because of his full time music schedule, David focuses on Drawing and on Works on Paper. “Someday, maybe I’ll find the time for Painting but right now I’m barely able to find a free hour or two to read a good book or to watch an NFL game. I have quite a few long term Music and Art projects that I’m currently working on but I have a lot of help with Music ones because I have collaborators and business partners here in Nashville. Art however is much more of a Solo Passion for me. I LOVE Figure Drawing and have various Figure projects going and I also enjoy doing Field Studies whenever I travel. I’m working on my Recycled Cardboard Project and I also have a Portrait Project that I’m planning to start and two children’s books that I’m illustrating. All of these projects take years because of my responsibilities with businesses, partners and family. Hopefully I live long enough to complete some of those projects.”
David describes his work as a blend of Realism, Expressionism and Impressionism. He is married and has 3 children Angela, Christopher and Dominique. You can visit his website at:
